Set Active: LUXFORM BTS Video and My Experience

So I was not sure if I should write this, but it only seemed right that I do.

It has been almost a year since I participated in a BTS (behind the scenes) video shoot for the brand Set Active. It all started as an Instagram story post by some members of the Set team. They were asking for fans of Set to dm them on if they were interested in being a part of a video shoot. At the the time, I did not know it was for “luxform”, which had yet to come out and was something new they were working on.

So, I sent a dm to them about it and from there I was told to email a specific email address and just write about why I love Set and why I should be picked for the “secret” video shoot. I wrote my email and yep, you guessed it. I got picked. From there I had to wait for further emails on when, time, place. Obviously, I knew it would take place in Los Angeles, California but the specific location I did not know of until the day to two before.

To preface, I live in Arizona. So in order to get to California for this experience of a lifetime, I hopped on plane and landed at LAX bright and early on I believe August 12 of 2020. The date could be slightly off but I know it was August of last year. I spent a couple hours just sitting in the airport before heading over to the shooting location since I flew in first thing in the morning the day of. I showed up an hour early to the shooting location and just hung out before the rest of the girls showed up. Only 5 girls were in each session of the video shoot. All of them in my group were from some part of Southern California. Even the other 5 girls from the second session of shooting. Only I was from Arizona. When Ally and Lindsey found this out they were shocked. I admit, I hadn’t told them beforehand that I was from Arizona and would have to fly out for the shoot. So what happened next I was not expecting.

I was the last in my group to go in for the video shoot. I sat down and Lindsey started telling me they want to do something special for me since I flew all the way there and for just the day. The something special, their entire next drop. No lie, I started to cry. It was so unexpected that I started crying since it was such a generous gift. It was not the luxform drop that the video was for, but the next sculptflex drop. It was one of the nicest things anyone had ever done for me. Lindsey and the whole team were just angels and honestly so nice. They let me stick around and help out here and there too, like a mini internship. Also said I could put that on my resume.

The only downside to the whole day, it was very draining. I never knew flying in someplace, being so busy during the day, and then flying back home could be so tiring. I was exhausted by the time I got home that day. But the overall experience is one I would not change for the world. If they ever did something like it again, I would love to be a part of it as well. The community that Set has created is an inviting one, and one I love being a member in.
