I am doing a thing... getting a nose job!
Just kidding, well kind of. I am getting a nose job but I am not changing how my nose looks. I am getting what is called a septoplasty, a corrective procedure done to straighten my septum. If you don’t know what a septum is, it is the partition between the two nasal cavities. I am having this surgery done since for years I have been battling with seasonal allergies and blocked nasal passages. When I say battling with allergies I mean pretty much allergic to all plants, pollen, trees etc. It's really lovely being me sometimes, lol. I wasn’t always allergic to animals like dogs or cats but just this year I was retested since the first and last time I had done the allergy prick test thing was back in 2015, and lets just say that’s a really long time ago so new testing was needed. Turns out now I am allergic to dogs and cats so yay me. I also am 1 less tree allergic but for the life of me I could not tell you which.
So back to the surgery. I desperately need it done since my right nostril doesn’t get good airflow. It is sad how bad it is. The left is pretty normal. With this surgery I will be able to breathe a whole lot better through my nose and hopefully my allergies and nasal drip won’t be as bad.
The recovery though. I am scared.
UPDATE!!
I had my nose surgery June 15th and the week after was just awful. Just pure pain and uncomfortableness. I slept in a recliner for a week straight since it was too hard to try and sleep propped up in bed with pillows. I had to change my gauze a lot every day as well. Chronic nose bleeding and all. I know… gross. But its been a month now since then and it is healing wonderfully as my surgeon said the last time I went in for a post-op appointment.
I love my “new” nose though. It is crazy how well I can breathe now given I couldn’t do it well for my whole life until this point. It is truly a game changer for me, and people now tell me I sound different. Personally I can’t tell, but maybe from not having so much build up now that I do not have narrower nasal passages like before my voice sounds clearer. I don’t know though since I can’t tell.
